Types of Cosmetic Packaging Materials

Common materials used for cosmetic packaging bottles include PP, PE, PET, HDPE, LDPE, PCTA, PCTG, AS, and ABS.
PP & PE

Both are eco-friendly materials that can be in direct contact with cosmetics and food. PP is milky white, translucent, and relatively soft. PE is even softer and opaque. They are widely used for organic skincare packaging.

PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)

Features high transparency, excellent air tightness, and pressure resistance. Commonly used for organic skincare and food-grade packaging, such as beverage bottles and cosmetic bottle bodies.

HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)

Offers strong acid and alkali resistance and high rigidity. Often used for pharmaceutical bottles and outer cosmetic packaging shells.

LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene)

Soft and heat-sensitive, typically used for chemical packaging such as facial cleanser tubes and glue bottles.

PCTA (Copolyester Plastic)

A high-performance material with high transparency, excellent low-temperature toughness, and chemical resistance. Suitable for premium cosmetic packaging.

PCTG

A clear plastic with glass-like transparency and density, chemical and impact resistance. Often used for perfume bottles and cosmetic containers.

AS (Acrylonitrile Styrene Copolymer)

Transparent but relatively brittle, commonly used for regular lotion bottles and airless bottles.

ABS (Engineering Plastic)

High hardness but not eco-friendly. Usually used for outer caps and shoulder sleeves of cosmetic packaging.
